Arjun Mk 1a Tank Handed Over

 Prime Minister Narendra Modi handed over the indigenous main battle tank Arjun Mk-1A during a military operation at the Army’s Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium, Chennai

Arjun Mk-1a tank:

♦ The Arjun main battle tank project was initiated by DRDO and the Department of Operations in 1972. The Vehicle Research and Development Agency (CVRDE) serves as its main laboratory.

♦ The goal is to create "super firepower, Mobility and excellent protection.” During the development process, CVRDE realized Breakthroughs in engines, transmissions, hydro-pneumatic suspensions, hulls and turrets and spray gun control system

♦ Mass production began in 1996 at the production plant of the Indian Ordnance Factory, Awadi in Tamil Nadu.

♦ The Arjun tank stands out for its " Fin Stabilised Armour Piercing Discarding Sabot (FSAPDS)” ammunition and 120mm calibre rifled gun.
