Union Health Minister Nominated To The Board Of GAVI

 The Union Health Minister, Dr Harsh Vardhan, was nominated to the Board of GAVI, The Vaccine Alliance. The Global Alliance has nominated the Minister for Vaccines and ImmunizationImmunization (GAVI) as a GAVI board member. He will be representing the South East Area Regional Office (SEARO)/Western Pacific Regional Office (WPRO) constituency of the GAVI Board. He will hold the post from 1st January 2021 to 31st December 2023.

As part of its mission to save lives, reduce poverty and protect the world from pandemics, the Vaccine Alliance GAVI has vaccinated 822 million children in the world’s poorest countries and prevented more than 14 million future deaths. GAVI was established in 2000 under the name "Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization". The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation initiated it. It partners with the Foundation, the WHO, the UNICEF, the World Bank, and Governments worldwide. The GAVI is dedicated to improving the use of vaccines among the most vulnerable children.
