1) Veteran India hockey goalkeeper PR Sreejesh on Monday won the prestigious World Games Athlete of the Year for his 2021 performances, becoming only the second Indian to receive the accolade.
➨ In 2020, Indian women's hockey captain Rani Rampal became the first Indian to win the honour for her 2019 show.

2) IN Budget 2022-22, the Government took a conservative stand on taxation by announcing flat 30% on income from digital virtual assets or crypto. 
➨In her Budget Speech 2022, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that 30% tax would charged on income from transfer of virtual digital assets.

3) The Karnataka government launched a centre of excellence for Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming & Comics (AVGC), positioning it as a pioneering high technology digital media hub.
➨The AVGC centre located in Mahadevapura is an initiative of Innovate Karnataka, a state-funded programme.

4) Following a controversy over the name of Jinnah Tower in Andhra Pradesh's Guntur, it has been painted in tricolour and arrangements will be made to hoist the national flag near it.

5) Lieutenant General PGK Menon has been appointed as the new Military Secretary in the Army Headquarters. Earlier, he was the commander of the Leh-based Fire and Fury Corps.

6) To protect MSMEs, import duty on umbrellas is being raised to 20 per cent and exemption to parts of umbrellas has been withdrawn.

8) A two-stage SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket topped with the Cosmo-SkyMed Second Generation FM2 (CSG-2) satellite lifted off from Florida's Cape Canaveral Space Force Station.

9) Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced a 35 per cent increase in the outlay for capital expenditure in Financial Year 2022-23.

➨The international theme for World Wetlands Day 2022 is ‘Wetlands Action for People and Nature’.

13) In her Union Budget speech, finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced that the customs duty on cut and polished diamonds and coloured gemstones has been reduced from 7.5% to 5%, while that of simply sawn diamonds would attract nil customs duty.

14) Food Processing Industries Minister Pashupati Kumar Paras released the Vision Document of Capacity Building Plan of his Ministry under Mission Karmayogi in New Delhi.
➨ Objective of the Capacity Building Plan of the Ministry is to enable employees to be more creative, proactive, professional, technology-enabled, efficient, accountable and citizen-centric by providing them training in domain areas relating to the Food Processing Sector.
