Birth Centenary of Pandit Bhimsen Joshi

 The legendary Pandit Bhimsen Joshi's one-year celebration of the centennial birthday will begin on February 4, 2020.


Highlights:
♦ The Rithwik Performing Arts Foundation also organized a two-day event in Mumbai to commemorate the eternal legacy of this great music master. The event celebrating the centenary of the birth was named "SwarBhaskar 100".
♦ The event will start with Jayateerth Mevundi's interpretation of Pandit Bhimsen Joshi's works.
♦ In addition to this event, Arya Sangeet Prasarak Mandal also organized a music program called "Abhivadan". This was organized in Ganesh Kala Krida Manch in Pune.
♦ Pandit Bhimsen Joshi: Pandit Bhimsen Gururaj Joshi is an Indian singer from Karnataka. He is famous for singing in the form of singing. He has also sung spiritual music in pop music. He belongs to Kirana gharana of Hindustani classical music. From 1964 to 1982, he visited Afghanistan, France, Italy, the United States and Canada to hold concerts. His concert was advertised on posters in New York. This is the first time that a musician from India has happened. He also organizes the Sawai Gandharva Music Festival once a year. This is a tribute to his master Pandit Sawai Gandharva. He was awarded the Sangeet Natak Akademi Scholarship in 1998. This is the highest honor awarded by Sangeet Natak Akademi. In 2009, he won India's highest civilian honor Bharat Ratna (Bharat Ratna).
♦ Hindustani classical music is the classical music of northern India. It is also called North Indian classical music or shastriya sangeet. The origin of Shastriya sangeet can be traced back to the 12th century AD. In the 12th century, Hindustani classical music ran counter to the classical music of southern India (called Carnatic music).
