Mondo Duplantis set world record at the World Athletics Indoor Tour meeting


American-born Swedish pole vaulter Mondo Duplantis set a world record by soaring 6.17 meters on his second attempt at the World Athletics Indoor Tour meeting held in Torun, Poland on 8 February. He achieved this feat in his second attempt at the height and sixth jump of the competition.
He broke Olympic champion Renaud Lavillenie's record of 6.16m which was set in February 2014 in Donetsk, Ukraine. He represented his mother's native country of Sweden.

Mondo Duplantis:
In 2019 he broke the NCAA indoor and outdoor records and won the NCAA indoor championship. In October 2019, Duplantis won a silver medal in the pole vault at the 2019 IAAF World Championships in Doha, Qatar.
