ICTP Ramanujan Prize: List of winners, eligibility, prize amount

 

How are the Ramanujan Prize winners selected?

  • The ICTP Ramanujan Prize is aimed at young mathematicians from developing countries, and hence is only awarded to those under 45 years of age on 31 December of the year of the award.
  • The award is bestowed upon mathematicians who have conducted outstanding research in a developing country.
  • The award can be given to any person who has made significant contributions to any branch of the mathematical sciences.
  • The selection committee is selected by mutual consultation between ICTP, IMU, and DST.
  • Apart from the scientific merits of the research, other factors like the background of the candidate and adversities faced while conducting the research are also considered.
  • The selection committee consists of eminent mathematicians with the common consensus of ICTP, the IMU, and the DST.

Award benefits and amount for Ramanujan Prize

  • The ICTP Ramanujan Prize awardee is entitled to a $15,000 cash award.
  • Apart from this, the awardee is also invited to ICTP for the award felicitation and to give a lecture.
