2) Brajesh Chandra Mishra, arguably India's most powerful principal secretary to a prime minister, died in New Delhi.

3) The Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine was awarded jointly on Monday to David Julius and Ardem Patapoutian, two scientists who independently discovered key mechanisms of how people sense heat, cold, touch and their own bodily movements.

4) Saurav Bhattacharya of Delhi Golf Club emerged as the winner of the first Andhra Pradesh Amateur Golf Championship while Arjun Bhati of JP Greens Noida and Rohan Dhole Patil of Pune Golf Club were declared as the first and second runners-up respectively.

5) Competition Commission chief Ashok Kumar Gupta has been given additional charge as the chairperson of the National Financial Reporting Authority (NFRA).

6) World Teacher's Day 2021, also known as International Teachers Day, is observed annually on 5 October. World Teachers’ Day has been celebrated since 1994. The aim of this annual event is to honour, celebrate and recognize the contribution and efforts of teachers.

7) Executive Committee of NMCG has decided upon engagement with Chacha Chaudhary character for sensitising children and youth for rejuvenation of Ganga and other rivers.

8) Nagaland will be hosting the 56th National Cross Country Championship in 2022. It will be the first ever for the state to host a National Athletics event.
➨ The 55th National Cross Country Championship was held in February 2021 and was hosted by Chandigarh Athletics Association.

9) Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu administered oath to two newly elected members Sarbananda Sonowal and L Murugan in his chamber.
➨ Sarbananda Sonowal was elected from Assam and L Murugan from Madhya Pradesh in the by-elections held recently.

10) Bhupender Yadav, the Minister of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change, launched the 'Wetlands of India' portal.
➨ The portal has been launched as part of the Iconic Week of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav of the Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change (MoEFCC) from October 4-10, 2021

11) Air Marshal B.R. Krishna took over as the Chief of the Integrated Defence Staff to the Chairman, Chiefs of Staff Committee (CISC). He was commissioned as a fighter pilot in 1983 and is a Qualified Flying Instructor and experimental test pilot.

12) On the occasion of the 152 birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the renovated Gandhi Museum was inaugurated at the historic Gandhi Ashram Trust at Noakhali in Bangladesh.

13) Seasoned bureaucrat Sujata Chaturvedi took charge as the new sports secretary from the outgoing Ravi Mittal.
➨ Chaturvedi, who was appointed to the post last month, is a 1989 batch IAS officer of Bihar cadre.

14) To celebrate the 75th year of independence, NITI Aayog's flagship initiative, the Women Entrepreneurship Platform (WEP) will felicitate 75 women achievers as part of the Amrit Mahotsav celebration.

15) NewSpace India Ltd (NSIL), ISRO's new commercial wing, has just announced its first 'demand-driven' communication satellite mission as part of the government's reforms last year.
➨The satellite mission has been named “GSAT-24”, a four-tonne class Ku- band satellite. This satellite built by ISRO.
