The Chief Minister of Kerala, Pinarayi Vijayan, held the opening ceremony of "Kerala Looks Ahead" on February 1, 2021.
Highlights:
♦ This is a three-day virtual global conclave.
♦ It seeks to develop a road map for the long-term development of Kerala.
♦ The leader of industry Ratan Tata, Kumar Mangalam Birla, Azim Premji and Anand Mahindra and Nobel Prize winner Amartya Sen attended the opening ceremony.
♦ Nobel Prize winner, economist Joseph Stiglitz and World Health Organization chief scientist Soumya Swaminathan will also deliver speeches at the opening ceremony.
♦ The conclave is hosted by the Kerala State Planning Board.
♦ The purpose of the conference is to collate suggestions and best practices in order to achieve a paradigm shift in development by building a historic achievement in welfare and invigorating growth.
♦ The conference also helped learning from best practices at the national and international levels.
♦ The conference will also help key departments provide deeper insights to quickly track the country’s transition to a knowledge economy.
♦ Theme of the conference: The conference covered nine topics for consideration. The nine themes include primary sectors such as agriculture, fisheries, and animal resource development; higher education including international academic collaboration; skills upgrading; modern industrial possibilities; tourism; e-governance; local government; federalism and development financing and information technology.
