India and US Joint Military Exercise - Yudh-Abhyas

 The 16th India-US joint military exercise "Yudh Abhyas" will begin in Rajasthan on February 8 and end on February 21, 2021. The exercise will be held near the border between India and Pakistan.


Highlights:
♦ The purpose of this meeting is to strengthen the cooperation and interoperability between the Indian and American forces.
♦ The exercise will also focus on conducting counter-terrorism operations in accordance with the mandate of the United Nations.
♦ The exercise between India and the United States will take place during a five-day exercise conducted by the Indian and French air forces in Rajasthan in January 2021.
♦ Bilateral training exercises between the two armies will be held at the Mahajan field shooting range at the foreign training node.
♦ The Army of India will be represented by the 11th Battalion of Jammu and Kashmir Rifles, part of the Southwest Command.
♦ Troops will represent the U.S. Army from the Second Infantry Regiment and the Third Infantry Regiment. These units belong to the combat team of the 1-2 Stryker brigade. The headquarters of each brigade will also represent the army together with the troops.
♦ Since 2004, a holy war has been held between the two armies. This exercise aims to promote cooperation between the two armies. The two parties share their training skills, their culture and build joint combat skills.
Yudh Abhyas, between the Indian and American forces, is of great significance to the security challenges (such as terrorism) faced by both countries, global terrorism. The purpose of holding this exercise is to improve the level of defence cooperation between the two armies. 
♦ In turn, this will also promote bilateral relations between the two countries. The exercise also marked India's pivotal role in the Indo-Pacific region. This work is also of great significance for the latest development of the border with northern China.
