As part of Mission Sagar III, INS Kiltan arrived in Sihanoukville, Cambodia. The ship will transport 15 tons of Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) warehouses to Cambodian people affected by the floods, handed over to the National Disaster Management Committee (NDMC) of Cambodia.
Mission Sagar:
♦ The Indian Naval Ship Kesari has set off to Maldives, Mauritius, Seychelles, Madagascar, and Comoros to provide food, COVID-related medicines, including HCQ tablets and Ayurvedic medicines with the medical assistance team.
♦ In addition, as part of the mission, INS Kesari will enter the Port of Male in the Republic of Maldives and provide them with 600 tons of food.
♦ The essential drugs related to COVID-19, including HCQ tablets, have been sent to Mauritius, Maldives, and Seychelles in advance.
♦ A group of medical staff was sent to the Maldives earlier to enhance their preparations for the crisis.
♦ The Ministry of Defense stated that the deployment as ‘Mission Sagar’ is in line with India’s role as a first responder in the region, and builds on the excellent relations existing between these countries to battle the COVID-19 pandemic and its resultant difficulties.
♦ The deployment is in line with the Prime Minister’s vision of Security and Growth for All in the Region ‘SAGAR’ promulgated in March 2015.
♦ SAGAR emphasized the importance India attaches to its relations with neighbouring countries and further strengthens existing ties.
♦ Operations are being carried out in close coordination with the Ministry of Defense and External Affairs and other agencies of the Government of India.
