National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS) Confirmed that no rules were borken on Bats Study.

Key Facts:-
1. Recently Indian Govt. has ordered probe into study on bats by U.S., China and Indian researchers in view of recent Coronaviurs and Ebola outbreak.
2. The NCBS- National Centre for Biological Sciences said researchers based at the NCBS collected samples of serum from bats and humans confirmed that no rules were broken in due process of research on bats.
3. The samples were tested at the NCBS with the technologies supplied by Duke-NUS.
4. NCBS confirmed that two of the 12 researchers are from Wuhan Institute of Virology's Department of Emerging Infectious Diseases, and the study was funded by US Department of Defense's Defense Threat Reduction Agency(DTRA).
5. These researchers have been continuously studying Bat antibodies in Nagaland since 2012. The NCBS further said researchers from the Wuhan Institute of Virology (VIV) were not directly involved in the study. They were listed co-authors, because they supplied reagents which is a standard practice for scientific authorship.
6. The NCBS further adds that it is not a direct recipient and no biological samples or infectious agents were transferred into or out of India.
7. Duke-NUS stands for Duke -National University of Singapore Medical School. NCBS and Duke-NUS started a collaboration in 2017 for transfer of technology used in medical testing.
