From Dr Rajendra Prasad, who was the first President of Independent India to Pranab Mukherjee, the current President, each one worked/ continues to work to ensure betterment of the country.
The President of India is the Head of the State and Supreme Commander of the armed forces. He is elected by the member of an Electoral College, which comprises of all elected members of both the Houses of Parliament and the Legislative Assemblies of the State and Union Territories of India.
The president holds Office for a term of five years.
