India on July 26, 2018 celebrated the 19th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas to mark the success of ‘Operation Vijay’ and to remember the supreme sacrifice of the Indian soldiers who lost their lives during the 1999 India-Pakistan Kargil War.
2. (c) Mars
A massive underground lake has been detected for the first time on Mars, raising the possibility that more water and even life exists there. The lake is about 20 kilometres wide, located under a layer of Martian ice.
3. (c) Haryana
The Haryana state government has constituted an inter-district council, under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, to identify the developmental priorities of the state. The inter-district council will prepare district specific action plans, assessment of development needs and delegate powers to panchayati raj institutions and urban local bodies.

The 18th International Children's Film Festival was inaugurated by West Bengal Governor K N Tripathi on July 25, 2018. Thirty-six films from 17 countries would be screened in the festival. The festival is being organised by Cine Central, one of the oldest cine clubs of the country in collaboration with the UNICEF.

The work on India's first public sector hotel run entirely by women for women has begun. The all-woman hotel is the first such initiative from a government institution in the country. The staff at the hotel will also be all women, starting right from the bottom rung to the managerial position.

Garden Reach Ship Builders (GRSE) of Kolkata signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Khulna Shipyard Limited (KSY) of Bangladesh to help the country in design and construction of warships.

President Ram Nath Kovind launched Chhattisgarh government's Sanchar Kranti Yojna at Jagdalpur in the Naxal-affected Bastar region of the state on July 26, 2018. Under the scheme, 50 lakh smartphones will be distributed free of cost to the people.

The Assam government recently decided to set up a separate directorate for the Divyangs. The appointment to Divyangs will be made at around 4500 posts by December 2018. Beside this, the Social Welfare department will also give Rs 1000 per month to all Divyangs as stipend.

The 3rd edition of Kabira festival 2018 will be held in Varanasi on November 16 to celebrate the spirit of 15th-century mystic poet Kabir. The annual festival conceived by the Mahindra group and Teamwork Arts, will feature a two-day programme of music, literature, talks and city explorations.
