2) Prime Minister Narendra Modi has topped the global rating amongst world leaders with an approval rating of 71 per cent.
➨ On the list of the 13 world leaders, US president Joe Biden is ranked at number six with a 43 per cent rating. Biden is followed by Canadian President Justin Trudeau also at 43 per cent and Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison at 41 per cent.

3) Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Prime Minister of Mauritius Pravind Kumar Jugnauth jointly inaugurated the India-assisted social housing units project in Mauritius virtually.
➨ The two leaders also launched the Civil Service College and 8MW Solar PV Farm projects in Mauritius that are being undertaken under India's development support.

4) The Amar Jawan Jyoti flame at India Gate has been merged with the Eternal Flame at the National War Memorial, barely 400 metres away. This merger was accompanied by a military ceremony in New Delhi.
➨Inaugurated on January 26, 1971, by the then prime minister Indira Gandhi, the Amar Jawan Jyoti was constructed as a memorial for Indian soldiers who were killed in action in the 1971 Indo-Pak war.

5) The National Stock Exchange (NSE) of India has emerged as the world's largest derivatives exchange for the third consecutive year in 2021 in terms of the number of contracts traded, according to the Futures Industry Association (FIA).

6) To deliver complete equality in property rights, the supreme court announced that the daughters of a male Hindu who died intestate would be eligible to obtain the self-acquired and other assets of the father and would have priority over other family members of the same lineage.

7) Kargil War Hero Capt Vikram Batra's bust unveiled at Palampur Military Station in Himachal Pradesh. 
➨ The bust was unveiled by the parents of Captain Batra. 
➨ Captain Batra was posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra, the country's highest and most prestigious award for valour, for his actions during the 1999 Kargil war.

8) The Meghalaya Cabinet has decided to increase the upper age limit for government job aspirants by five years.
➨ Candidates in the general category can now apply for government jobs until the age of 32 years and in Scheduled Tribes, the maximum age limit for applying has been enhanced to 37 years

9) Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that a statue of freedom fighter Subhash Chandra Bose will be installed at Delhi's India Gate to honour his contribution to the country's independence movement.

10) Former Wimbledon doubles champion Sania Mirza, one of India's most celebrated sports stars, has announced that she will retire from tennis after 2022.
➨Mirza became the first Indian to win a WTA singles title in 2005.
➨She has also won two Grand Slam titles with partner Mahesh Bhupathi - the 2009 Australian Open mixed doubles title and the French Open 2012 mixed doubles.

13) Chanchal Kumar (IAS) has been appointed as Managing Director of National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDC) under the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways in the rank and pay of Additional Secretary.

15) Ladakh has got its first open synthetic track and football turf for football stadium under Khelo India Programme.
➨Built at an estimated cost of ₹10.68 crore, the size of the track and football turf has been constructed on 130 kanals in the Spituk belt of the 'cold desert'.

16) Minister of state for Defence Ajay Bhatt today inaugurated an interactive Virtual Museum hosted by the Gallantry Awards portal. 
➨ Mr. Bhatt said the virtual museum will honor the contribution of the country’s bravehearts who have made the supreme sacrifice in the service of the nation.

17) Every year on 23 January, Subhas Chandra Bose Jayanti is observed and last year, the government of India designated his Jayanti to be observed as Parakram Diwas.
