The National Center for Seismology (NCS) is the nodal agency of the Indian government to monitor the country’s seismic activity.
About NCS:
♦ NCS maintains a National Seismological Network consisting of 115 stations, each of which is equipped with the most advanced equipment and spreads across the country.
♦ NCS monitors seismic activity across the country through its 24×7 surveillance center.
♦ NCS also monitors earthquake swarms and aftershocks by deploying temporary observatories near the disaster area.
♦ In addition to earthquake monitoring, NCS also actively participates in Seismic Hazard Micro-zoning and seismological research.
♦ NCS operates under Ministry of Earth Sciences, GOI.
