Kartarpur corridor

What is Kartarpur Corridor?

Kartarpur is famous for the final resting place of Guru Nanak Dev and is a famous Sikh Pilgrims  of 16th-century Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Pakistan. The gurdwara, on the banks of Ravi river, has historical significance for Sikhs as Guru Nanak Dev, the founder of Sikhism, spent 18 years there. Established by the Sikh Guru in 1522, it is about three-four km from the international border. The opening a corridor to the historical shrine was a long-pending demand of Sikhs but nowadays it has become political agenda for both India and Pakistan.

Will it bring down tensions between the two and bring the two nations on the table of talk or not the time will tell.

The famous politicians from both the nations has indulged themselves in firing each other withe various issues.
The problem lies elsewhere – in Pakistan’s unwillingness to forego the terror tool even as it claims to want to pursue peaceful dialogue with India. It continues to harbour those who have been declared as terrorists not just by India but by the UN and international community as well, while sponsoring terror camps and offering safe haven to terror groups. Beginning with Prime Minister AB Vajpayee’s trip to Lahore in 1998 and continuing into the current tenure of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, any number of Indian peace overtures have been met with terror strikes or military incursions such as into Kargil in 1999.
