Xiaomi launched the selfie-centric Redmi Y2 phone in India on Thursday at a starting price of Rs 9,999. The Redmi Y2 is the successor to last year's Redmi Y1. Just like the Redmi Y1, the Redmi Y2 is also a phone that is chiefly targeted towards the youth looking for a big screen and what is supposedly the best selfie experience, on a budget. The phone comes with a tall 18:9 near bezel-less display and a 16-megapixel camera on the front. Unlike the Redmi Y1 however, the Redmi Y2 isn't launching along with a Lite variant which means there will be no Redmi Y2 Lite, at least for now.
The Redmi Y2 is a rebranded version of the Redmi S2 that was recently launched in China. It boasts of more or less the same build and design scheme, as well as more or less the same hardware specifications.
