UPSC Civil Services Prelims cutoff is the marks secured by last recommended candidates for mains examination. UPSC Civil Services 2018 cutoff for prelims will be calculated on the basis of General Studies (GS) Paper I only. Candidates have to secure 33% to qualify GS Paper II exam. UPSC IAS prelims cutoff is determined separately for each category i.e. general category and reserved categories. The preliminary examination is conducted to screen candidates for the mains exam. The marks obtained in preliminary examination is not counted for final merit list. Candidates 12 to 13 times the total number of vacancies are selected for mains examination. UPSC Civil Services Cutoff 2018 for Mains Exam
Candidates who will secure qualifying marks in prelims are eligible to appear in UPSC Civil Services Prelims exam. Candidates have to secure 33% to qualify GS Paper II exam. UPSC Civil Services 2018 cutoff for mains examination is determined based on seven papers out of total 9 papers. However, candidates need to qualify Paper A and B of UPSC Civil Services mains exam by securing 25 %. UPSC Civil Services Mains cutoff is calculated out of 1750 marks. Candidates have to secure 10% in each of the papers that are counted for merit - Essay, GS I, II, II, IV, Optional-I and II. On the basis of UPSC Civil Services cutoff 2018 for mains, candidates twice the number of vacancies will be shortlisted for Personality Test. The final cutoff of UPSC Civil Services will be determined based on mains and personality test. UPSC Civil Services final cutoff 2018 will be calculated out of 2025 marks.
